New Play Development

Since 2007, IAMA Theatre Company has been dedicated to developing new plays and musicals. IAMA offers a variety of development opportunities for both emerging and established playwrights.

Commissions
Our playwriting commissions help to create a long-lasting relationship between IAMA and the diverse voices we help to develop, with an emphasis on working toward a future full production. By offering incorporating the talent and inspiration of our ensemble into the development of writers and their work, IAMA hopes to create a growing and dynamic family of artists.

  • The RHIMES UNSUNG VOICES Playwrighting Commission  is geared towards an underrepresented writer of color who has not had a play professionally produced.

The IAMA Reading Series
This bi-annual event allows playwrights to hear their developing work in a public forum. Four new plays or musicals are workshopped and presented over the course of seven days.
