IAMA’s 9th Annual NEW WORKS FESTIVAL

SEPTEMBER 14-28, 2026

IAMA Theatre Company, committed to cultivating new voices and creating new, boundary-pushing work, will host its 9th Annual New Works Festival this September.

Featuring six new plays presented as staged readings, IAMA’s New Works Festival gives audiences an early look at future hits and allows playwrights to experience public reaction to their new work for the first time.


MONday, SEPTEMBER 14, 8PM

The Half-Sibling Play

Written by Agyeiwaa Asante
Directed by Ludmila Brito

Growing up in separate households, half-siblings Kweku and Amoaa have never been close. But when their father dies unexpectedly, a generational curse is unleashed. The siblings travel together from Brooklyn to Ghana to pay their respects and claim their birthright. A play about sisters, brothers, and absent fathers, The Half-Sibling Play delves into the power of gods, the mystery of family, and what it means to come home.

When Linda’s wealthy brother dies unexpectedly, his family is left conspicuously out of the will. Now Linda, her emotionally estranged sister, and her angsty adult daughter find themselves navigating the mourning process at a drunken funeral afterparty with the 20something former stripper who inherited his estate. All Remaining Assets is a play about money, family, sex, and the forces that tether us to one another.

Werewolves

Werewolves is a razor-sharp, darkly funny chamber piece set in a Cyprus villa where a billionaire’s young heir turns a party game into a moral battleground. As an entourage of caregivers orbit the child’s volatile need for control, WEREWOLVES asks what money does to love, what caretaking costs, and who gets to leave the game.
